THREADS OF COLOR AND SPIRIT: THE ART OF SOPHIA KELLY SHULTZ

Thomas Curtin of Parkesburg, Pennsylvania is proud to host an open house for nationally known painter and illustrator Sophia Kelly Shultz on Saturday, May 31st 2008.   The open house will be held at Mr. Curtin’s home at 335 Main Street, Parkesburg, between the hours of 7 and 11 PM.  Refreshments will be served.

Chester County native and visionary artist Sophia Kelly Shultz believes in seeking the heart of whatever she is painting, whether mineral or spiritual.  Says Kelly Shultz, “Approaching my subjects with passion has led to images that reveal startling inner truths.  Owners of my pastel and colored pencil portraits often speak of my ability to ‘see things no one else can see’ about them; likewise, I’ve been told that my paintings of gods and goddesses have a feeling of ‘rightness’ about them.”

Over the course of her 26-year career, Kelly Shultz has produced an impressive and diverse body of artwork in as varied an assortment of media, including pen and ink, pastel, colored pencil and gouache.  Her illustrations have graced nationally distributed magazines and internationally distributed music CDs.  Her constantly expanding line of richly colored prints and greeting cards is well known in the science fiction, fantasy, and spiritual communities alike.
